Learn, create, and empower with Meet and Code webinars.

Get Inspired! Meet and Code is offering a free webinar series to equip educators, non-profits, and workshop organizers with fresh ideas for engaging Meet and Code events, school lessons, and other educational activities. The webinars present the various free Amazon Future Engineer resources and how you can use them for your Meet and Code event or in the classroom. 

The webinars are hosted in English and are targeting non-profit organizations across Europe as well as schools, teachers, educators and workshop organizers with an interest in digital education and digital education tools.

Discover the interactive Career Tours and Class Chats with Amazon Future Engineer

Exposing students to diverse careers and people in technology and intimate role models can bring them new possibilities, inspiration, and motivation and foster students’ sense of belonging in these careers. In our webinar you are introduced to the virtual Career Tours and Class Chats, two essential and helpful resources for career exploration. The webinar is divided in two parts.

The first part is about Career Tours. Careers Tours are free, interactive virtual field trips that inspire students to pursue careers of the future by exploring Amazon’s technologies. During the webinar, you participate in a live demo where you learn how these virtual tours work and how you can use them in your workshop and classroom.  
Career tours are free of charge and available in the following languages:  

  • AWS Data Centre Tour: German  

The second part of the webinar is about Class Chats. Class Chats are virtual career talks that inspire students and highlight the many different opportunities in the world of tech and other future skills. During a Class Chat, Amazon employees share insights about working at a large tech company. During the webinar, you learn how Class Chats work, which different offers are available and how you can use them in your classroom or workshop. 
Class Chats are free of charge and available in the following languages:  English, German, French   

The webinar is held in English.  It is particularly relevant for workshop organizers and educators who teach classes and run workshops in English, German, French, Dutch, Italian and Spanish. 

About the speakers:

Vojtech Tichavsky: Vojtech is a dynamic and accomplished professional with a diverse background spanning technology, education, and social impact. As a team member for Amazon Future Engineer, he is on a mission to inspire and empower the next generation of innovators and leaders. With a passion for leveraging technology and Amazon employees to drive positive change, Vojtech has dedicated his career to bridging the gap between education and industry. 

Elliott Higginbotham: Elliott has been with Amazon for over 3 years, where he plays a key role in supporting students to realise their full potential through the Amazon Future Engineer program globally. He joined the company as a Project Manager Degree Apprentice and has since become an integral part of the team working to increase access to computer science education for children and young adults from underrepresented communities. 

Coding for Climate Action with Digit<all>

Coding for Climate Action Computing offers resources for primary and secondary students in a context of sustainability and environmental events where students are encouraged to code early warning systems to mitigate the effects of natural hazards. During the webinar you discover the different materials and how you can use them in your workshop and classroom to enable young people from KS2 and KS3 to explore natural hazards and innovatively design and develop solutions to monitor potential hazards and transmit messages to communities so that they are able to take evasive action.  

Coding for Climate Action is free of charge and available in the following languages: EnglishGermanThe webinar is held in English. It is particularly relevant for workshop organizers and educators who teach classes and run workshops in English. After a short introduction, you dive deep in the different materials. This is followed by a Q&A session. 

About the speaker: Peter is founder and CEO of Digit<all>, a charity developing the digital skills of underrepresented and underserved young people through the lens of Climate Action and Sustainability. Peter is the UK EU Code Week Ambassador and previously an assistant headteacher at Park House Secondary School and is best known for his work across the UK and Europe promoting girls in STEM and Computing through a focus on self-efficacy. He is also the Secondary Sector Lead for BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT where he leads the development of communities promoting STEM through physical computing. 

Teaching to code in Python and Blockly with Citizen Code Python

Citizen Code Python is a free game to teach and to learn to code in Python and Blockly. It is accessible to all levels and mainly aimed at 9-17 year olds, but open to everyone. Citizen Code Python is offered in partnership between Amazon Future Engineer, TRALALERE and France-ioi.  
Citizen Code Python is free of charge and available in the following languages: French and Dutch 

During the webinar, we explore the different features of Citizen Code Python and the different ways in which the product can be used. For example, we unpack how it can be used in various settings such as in school classes or workshop groups or, how teachers, educators and trainers can use it to teach Python and Blockly. 
The webinar is held in English and is particularly relevant for workshop organizers and educators who teach classes and run workshops in French and Dutch. 
After a short introduction, we take a deep dive into the different features, followed by a Q&A session with TRALALERE.

About the Speaker: With an engineering degree from ECE Paris, Hugo began his career at TRALALERE as an assistant project manager after similar experience in the events industry. With a wealth of personal and professional experience as an entrepreneur, he mainly works on projects related to mathematics and digital technology. He quickly took on the role of project manager and then program manager, continuing his adventure at TRALALERE. 

Learn To Engage Your Students with Turinglab - The Free Python Platform for Educators

Speakers: Henry Lake, Turinglab Cofounder; Sam Green, Turinglab Cofounder

Turinglab, supported by Amazon Future Engineer, is an online platform for teaching Python programming in a fun, engaging and accessible way primarily for secondary school students.  
It is free of charge and available in the following languages: English, German, Spanish, Italian

During the webinar we introduce Turinglab's Python Coding Courses and how the platform can be used to support teaching programming within an educational environment. 
The seminar covers an environmentally focused Python coding series and lightly touches upon various short courses available. The series starts with Farmbot where students code a farming robot, whereafter it progresses onto Smart Cities where students control energy for a city. Finally, it ends in Chatbot, where students create a chatbot that predicts their environmental footprint. 

Turinglab resources are all carefully paced, scaffolded, gamified and automatically marked to help teachers introduce Python to students in an engaging way while maintaining clear oversight into student progress. The webinar is held in English and is particularly relevant for workshop organizers and educators who teach python coding in educational contexts in the following languages: English, German, Spanish, Italian.

About the Speakers:  

Henry Lake: Henry has Masters degrees in both Physics and Computer Science from Imperial College London where he specialized in 3D modelling. Having founded Turinglab in 2015 with his co-founder Sam, Henry has led on the software development at Turinglab while also enjoys creating content - especially content that encourages students to be creative. 

Sam Green: Sam has a background in Design from the University of Cambridge and a Masters in Computer Science from Imperial College London where he specialized in Deep Neural Networks. Having founded Turinglab in 2015 with his cofounder Henry, Sam has led on the design of the platform and the recently updated learning materials within Turinglab where he enjoyed blending learning to code within the context of environmental awareness.

  • We will continue to support in these challenging times and work together to help create impactful in-person, hybrid or online events, 

  • Meet and Code’s aim is to inspire, share best practice, support, and develop new ideas, as well as to help address any challenges you are faced with. 

Setting up an on-site or virtual Meet and Code event is fun but can also be challenging. You may find yourself wondering what the current trends in digital skills are or how you can motivate young learners to join your course.
