Smart Farming

„Kobzart“ Udruženje građana

Opis Cantavir is situated in the northern part of Serbia. It is mainly an agricultural village as most of the people are farmers or work in agricultural factories. To have a better insight in what extent programming is used in agriculture (especially on the fields), students do research on how people check the different stages of production, how they reveal issues such as irrigation problems, soil variation, and pest and fungal infestations. After that, we explore different possibilities of the implementations of computational thinking and programming in agriculture. With micro: bit kits, a group of students carry out different experiments ( temperature, light, compass, accelerometer experiments, soil moisture, etc.). Another group will take a look at how drones can be used in agriculture. With the help of floor robots and Edison robots, students will do measuring and calculations to learn how to make a field trip more economical if they have to visit different locations. They will also visit a secondary school to find out more about 3D printing and what benefits farmers can have from it. A professional programmer will present his team’s work on irrigation systems.
