First LEGO LEAGUE - BQPS and Partners Event

BILL QUAY PRIMARY SCHOOL PTA

Description An introduction to First LEGO LEAGUE and LEGO education for children aged 8-11 years old. Children will be introduced to coding and the First LEGO LEAGUE Events process. Children will then have the opportunity to compete against other schools on a competition field. The event will fund equipment loans and support with registration fees.

What content does the event teach? Which methods and resources are used to convey this content to the participants?
- LEGO LEAGUE robots and LEGO education app.
- Introduction to scratch and LEGO coding platform.
- Support guides produced by special robotics education teacher.

What are the goals of the event?
- Develop an interest in Coding.
- Promote careers in STEM and coding.
- Compete during a local LEGO LEAGUE activity.

Which target group are you addressing with your event?
- Pupil premium learners.
- SEND learners.
- Learners that have no access to IT hardware or robotics.
- Females in an underrepresented STEM field.

What makes your event special for the target group?
- Free for all participants with support for schools to enter national competitions.
- Introduction to robotics with support from subject specialists.
- Engagement from business community to raise aspirations amongst disadvantaged learners.

Is there any other relevant information for the target group, e.g. about registration?
- Event will give all participants access to new technology and robotics equipment.
- Event will be 100% inclusive for all SEND learners.
- 50% participants will be female.
