Equipment: Sphero, Botley, Indie, Maze and Race Equipment, Tablets for Scratch, Green Screen and Camera equipment and Laptops.
Description:
The aim of this event is to expose the participants ages 4-13 to a variety of programming methods with the help of different robotic and tech tools in a fun and interactive format.
Several stations will be set up in the various rooms available at the location. Station 1- 3 will present a different robot each, and will offer the participants an activity to explain how the robots operate and how they are programmed. This will be done in small groups of 4-6 participants at a time, in order for them to have plenty of time for hands-on trial and error programming of the robots. Stations 4 and 5 will offer participating kids the opportunity to learn to interact with screens in a creative and mentally challenging way as opposed to simply watching passively. The participants will be guided through these exciting stations with an instructor and a coach each as needed.
We will have 5 rooms at our disposal and will set up the following experiences in each:
Room/Station 1: Sphero Maze and Race
Room/Station 2: Botley + Dash Discovery and Activities
Room/Station 3: Indie Maze and Race
Room/Station 4: Scratch / Scratch Jr.
Room/Station 5: Editing like a Pro with Green Screen - Creating a 5 shot sequence with participant and parent in order to understand screen direction and applying transitions (cuts) to the edit.
Participants will have the option to register before the event or on the day should availability allow for it. The event will be limited to 70 participants and registration is free.
