Description
Swansea MAD is a youth and community charity. Our event will inspire and introduce young people to coding and technology, which they otherwise cannot access due to financial barriers, digital poverty and a lack of local opportunities.
The live workshop will support young people to learn the basics of coding through building a number guessing game, using Python, through live tuition, activities and accessible learning resources. The workshop will be delivered through a cloud based platform which young people will be able to access after the session to continue their learning, either face-to-face or virtually.
Our event will support young people to develop the coding and digital skills which employers increasingly require, while also building their confidence and motivation to engage with technology.
The target group will be young people who are socially and digitally excluded, including those who are Black and non-Black people of colour, LGBT+, disabled, marginalised genders and young people who have been failed by the education system. Our digital expertise and youth and community approach and values will create a safe/inclusive space in which young people can learn/thrive.
