Coding Masters Workshop

St Francis of Assisi Primary School and Niascoil an Cheide

Description A three day 'code your own game' set of workshops. The goal is for all pupils to have practical opportunities to design, create and develop their own interactive game. This will give students a basic overview of coding and thus create their own fun game. Also class teachers will have the opportunity to learn from the facilitator the basics about coding so that they can facilitate workshops.

Several classes across Key Stage 2 will have the opportunity to take part in this workshop. Pupil workshops will incorporate a wide range of topics such as, music, story telling, Digital Art, Numeracy, Literacy, mental health and sustainability.
Our event will use Scratch which allows young people to create digital stories, games and animations. Scratch encourages critical thinking, problem solving, communication and digital literacy.
Other resources needed will be WIFI access, 4 hours per day from a professional facilitator, keyboard devices in school.

As a school located in a socially deprived neighbourhood, children from low income households, with no access to own devices, ethnic minorities and children with learning difficulties will be accessing the Coding workshop. The Workshops will take place during school, therefore all pupils will be able access the skills from the facilitator.
