Lego League taster sessions

Friends of Truro Learning Academy

Description We are looking to boost the understanding and participation of Key Stage 2 girls within the ever important area of computational thinking and coding. We plan to teach the children how to build and code their robot to complete a series of increasingly complex tasks in order to show them what is possible to achieve with their team-built robots. In turn, we hope that this will inspire them to go on to join our Lego League team and be immersed in the opportunities that this gives to the children - including inspiring them to explore STEM careers in the future.

We would like to obtain key resources needed for this that will grab the attention and inspire young girls, and allow for sessions that include numerous different coding options and applications.

Goals:

* Increased engagement from a target group of girls across Key Stage 2 (ages 8 to 11).
* Deliver exciting and engaging sessions using resources which the children would not otherwise have access to.
* The event will be delivered in weekly sessions weekly sessions for half a term and will then be pursued through our Lego League club.
