Environmental focused Code and Media Tech

Mount Hawke Academy FOMHS

Description Our teachers and children would like to produce a series of tech-based media productions around themes of environmental protection, both in our local environment and further afield. Climate change and looking after the environment are ever present themes for our children - we want them to explore the issues surrounding such topics through exciting investigation, podcasts and video-based productions, crossing over into investigations that require an understanding of code for them to set up and run. We would like these children to understand the technical aspects and code that make up media production and internet delivery software, giving them the understanding to manipulate technologies powerfully and with confidence. Alongside these pursuits, we want to open children’s eyes to the possibilities that code can bring to environmental projects, by using code to program sensors, for example, that monitor noise pollution, environmental change over time and methods to increase energy efficiency.
