Code'n'Stitch

Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School

Description This event will be targeted at year 5 and 6 girls, less able coders and pupil premium children within our local school network. It will consist of two workshop events in a day (30 children per workshop) using block coding in Turtlestitch to inspire children into computer science at secondary school. The use of real world application in fashion and textiles will open children’s minds to the careers available to them. They will be able to code a design and then see their patterns come to life on the Embroidery machine, something that they will never have seen before. At the end of the day, they can take home their handiwork at no cost. With the purchase of this machine, I want to continue to run these workshops in the future so that this can become the start of a sewing revolution in the North West and beyond!
