Crumble Coding Extravaganza

Levendale Primary School Parent Teacher Association

Description Educational events play a crucial role in enhancing children’s knowledge and skills by providing them with opportunities to engage in hands-on learning experiences. Our hope is that our launch event for Crumbles will introduce children to the idea of programming and enthuse children about a career in computer science. One of our school goals is to be aspirational and we are hoping this event will really inspire our children about careers they perhaps hadn’t previously thought about. This event is being designed to introduce our young learners to the exciting world of coding and programming in a fun and interactive way.

The event will focus on introducing children to the fundamentals of programming through engaging activities using the Crumbles equipment. Participants will learn how to create and execute simple code commands to control various electronic components, fostering their understanding of computational thinking and problem-solving skills. Through a series of hands-on workshops and interactive sessions, children will explore the principles of coding and will create a model in order to apply their code.
Children will have the opportunity to work in groups, experimenting with different coding concepts and exploring the creative possibilities offered by the Crumbles programming equipment. Our teachers will provide step-by-step guidance and support, ensuring that each child can progress at their own pace and maximise their learning potential.
The primary goal of this event is to inspire and empower children to develop essential digital skills and a passion for technology from a young age. By introducing them to the exciting world of programming through hands-on activities with the Crumbles equipment, we aim to nurture their creativity, problem-solving abilities and logical thinking. Through continued opportunities to use the Crumbles equipment, we hope to instil confidence in our children to pursue further activities in STEM fields and pursue aspirations in technology-related industries.
This event is specifically designed for children in Years 4 to 6 (aged 8 to 11 years old) They will be able to explore the possibilities of programming in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Children will have the opportunity to experiment with real-world coding scenarios using the Crumbles equipment, enabling them to see the immediate results of their programming decisions.
