Enhancing Hands-On Coding Experience with Pro-Bots in Mr Sage's Computing Club

Riverside Primary School

Description 1. The club focuses on teaching coding and computational thinking skills. Participants will learn programming concepts through hands-on activities that involve controlling Pro-Bots, which are programmable robots. The curriculum is designed to make abstract coding concepts more tangible by using physical movements and real-world applications facilitated by mats and grids.

2. Hands-on Activities: Participants use Pro-Bots to complete coding tasks, which involves programming the robots to navigate through various mats and grids.
Interactive Learning: Real-world coding applications are incorporated through the use of interactive mats and a clear grid.
Collaborative Software: The Probotix Site Licence allows multiple students to work on shared projects, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

3. Increase Engagement: Make coding more engaging and interactive to attract more students and sustain their interest in computing.
Enhance Learning: Provide a deeper understanding of programming concepts through practical, hands-on activities.
Support Collaborative Learning: Promote teamwork and collective problem-solving skills through shared access to the Probotix software.

4. The event targets students who are members of Mr Sage's computing club, with a focus on inclusivity and diversity. This includes underserved and underrepresented groups such as:
- Individuals with migration and refugee backgrounds
- Students from low-income households or disadvantaged economic backgrounds
