Description VEX Robotics Workshop at Rowlands Gill Primary School

Introduction:
The VEX Robotics Workshop at Rowlands Gill Primary School is an exciting and innovative event designed to introduce Year 3 and 4 students to the world of robotics and coding. Through hands-on activities and expert guidance, we aim to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.

Event Details:
- Workshop Focus: The workshop centers around VEX robots, versatile and programmable robots that allow students to explore block-based coding and engineering concepts.
- Hands-On Learning: Participants will engage in practical sessions where they'll assemble, program, and operate VEX robots.
- Resources:
- VEX robot kits
- iPads for coding exercises
- Expert facilitators to guide students through the process
Goals:
1. **Inspire Interest:** We want to spark enthusiasm for robotics and coding among young learners. By exposing them to VEX robots, we hope to inspire future engineers, programmers, and problem solvers.
2. **Inclusion:** Our workshop emphasizes inclusivity. We welcome students of all backgrounds, abilities, and genders, ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate.
3. **Career Awareness:** By showcasing the relevance of robotics in today's world, we aim to promote STEM careers and highlight their importance in various industries.
Target Audience:
- Year 3 and 4 Students: These early-primary learners are at a crucial stage for developing foundational skills. The workshop aligns with their curriculum and encourages exploration beyond the classroom.
- Female Students: We actively encourage female participation to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields.
- SEND Learners: Our event provides additional support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully engage with the material.
Unique Features:
1. Cutting-Edge Technology: VEX robots offer a unique learning experience not commonly available. Students will work with state-of-the-art equipment, enhancing their understanding of robotics and coding.
2. Inclusive Approach: Our workshop accommodates diverse learners, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.
Additional Information:
Disadvantaged Backgrounds: Approximately 26% of our students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The grant funding will provide essential resources to bridge this gap.
