Achieve, Grow, Change: Stemettes Hack

Stemette Futures

Description This event will be focusing on cloud computing and green energy. The brief is for individuals to come up with an innovative idea for a cloud computing service that is mindful of the environment. With the use of coding and creativity, we ask for them to come up with a CleanTech product or business solution that would help a city become a smart city. They should design and prototype their product, creating either at least 3 app screens or a website using, dependant on ability, AppShed, AppInventor or CodePen. Individuals will then present their idea in front of their peers at the end of the day to be in the running for a prize. Participants will be broken down into 3 groups in line with the tool they will be using, they will have a demo and ability to play around with the tool before they dive into the brief.

The goals of this event are that the girls, young women and non-binary individuals that have attended feel more informed about their place and future in STEAM, so that women and non-binary individuals can be eventually proportionally represented in the field. We want to engage, inform, and connect our young people today so that they can become our future leaders in STEAM. We strive to create happiness, well-being, and authenticity at all of our events.

The target group for this event in young girls, women and non-binary individuals aged between 5-25 years of age.
