International Day of the Girl VEXROBOTICS Event at Portobello

Description This event will focus on promoting careers in STEM for female participants. The event will act as an introduction to VEX robotics and enable children to compete against other schools.

What content does the event teach? Which methods and resources are used to convey this content to the participants?
- VEX Robotics - children will have the opportunity to drive a robot using a remote control and iPad. Children will then code their robot using block based methods.
- Introduction to hybrid coding methods.

What are the goals of the event?
- Promote careers in STEM/Coding.
- Introduce children to coding and a competitive robotics competition.

Which target group are you addressing with your event?
- Females in STEM.
- Disadvantaged females and young learners.
- Pupil Premium learners.

What makes your event special for the target group?
- Only all female STEM event in the North East.
- Only all female robotics competition in the North East.
- Supported and targeted at disadvantaged learners.

Is there any other relevant information for the target group, e.g. about registration?
- 100% of participants all female.
- 68% from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- 31% SEND learner.
