BILL QUAY PRIMARY SCHOOL PTA

Description Code Week workshop aimed at introduction to block based coding. Utilisation of Ozobots to show different coding methods. Children will be involved in a hands on practical session supported by experts.

What content does the event teach? Which methods and resources are used to convey this content to the participants?
- Ozobots and beets to introduce block based coding.
- iPads to show links between practical coding and hybrid coding to children.
- Guest speaker to support children making links between coding methods.

What are the goals of the event?
- Promote careers in coding and importance in the wider world.
- Promote inclusion through coding.
- Develop interest in coding and computational technology.

Which target group are you addressing with your event?
- SEND children.
- Female careers in STEM sector.
- Key Stage One and Key Stage 2 (Early/Primary) coding.

What makes your event special for the target group?
- Unique event using technology not available currently.
- Support for SEND learners to access curriculum and coding activities.
- Support from local businesses to promote STEM and coding careers.

Is there any other relevant information for the target group, e.g. about registration?
- 33% pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- 42% of learners from SEND background.
*Funding will provide additional support to both group of learners.
