Code Camp coding event

Saxon Primary school

Description At Saxon, we are always looking for opportunities to enrich our curriculum and develop the pupils love of computing especially within KS2; as children begin to think about future learning, and jobs. We would like to offer pupils something that will benefit them in the future and drive imagination, unlock potential and provide enrichment.

We would like to use £1,200 of funding to run a two-day (12 hour) coding project experience for children in KS2. To do this, we would like to use Code Camp UK’s staff to deliver a game making course in school.

The two day project allows children to create their own games from the ground up using drop-and-drag coding. Children will learn about variables, loops, algorithms, maths and problem solving through visual coding. This is not something we are currently able to offer at our school as we don’t have the resources/specialist teachers/software to be able to do this.

Furthermore, as a school with 14% of pupil premium students and a wide range of backgrounds, this is something that parents are unlikely to be able to fund.
