World Youth Skills Day celebrates the importance of equipping young people with the necessary skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. This year, the day takes place during a time when concerted efforts are being made toward socio-economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic as well as challenges such as climate change, conflict, persisting poverty, rising inequality, and rapid technological change.

Although times are tough, we know that youth in Europe have great resilience and determination. We want to celebrate their achievements and growth. At the same time, we believe that digital skills can forge a way for our future leaders to mitigate many of the challenges we are faced with today to provide a better future for themselves.

This is why our Meet and Code Superstar search is back! Do you have what it takes?
Our Meet and Code Ambassador should be a young person who lives and breathe all things digital.

Not only is this a great opportunity to become a coding advocate for good, it is also an exciting way for a young person to grow their profile in the tech space across Europe. This accolade can also be added to a CV or university application.

If you or someone you would like to nominate fits the above criteria, follow us on our Facebook and/or Twitter pages and share a 30-second video of the candidate explaining why they should be our next Meet and Code Superstar. Make sure you use the hashtag #meetandcodesuperstar. We will also need you to tag @meetandcode when you post your video on either platform. We would like to encourage all of our NPOs to nominate participants from their events too.

Top tips: Give examples of any apps or tech ideas you have come up with, tell us how you are using code and your digital skills to make a difference and why you love Meet and Code. If you need some help, why not ask your school, parents, coding club, or friends to help you film your video? You can also email socialmedia@hooklinesinker.biz if you have any additional questions or need support.

You have until 11 November 2022 to enter as we would like to encourage all of our NPOs to nominate participants from their events.

The Meet and Code organising team will select the Superstar who will be notified by the end of December.

This year the prize for the Meet and Code Ambassador is going to be really special: a fantastic, interdisciplinary Photon Robot!!! With its assistance, students of various ages can develop their programming skills by implementing in real life the programs they have created. The prize has been provided by a Polish company, Photon, whose mission is empowering educators to shape the future of humankind. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!
