Environmental focused media production

Friends of Connor Downs Academy

Beschrijving Our Year 5 teacher and their pupils would like to produce a series of media productions based on the theme of sewage pollution with a focus on our local area. We are located within two miles of the local beach and are regularly stopped from using the beach and water due to sewage pollution. Looking after the local environment are ever present themes for our children – we want them to explore the issues affecting our local area through investigation, podcasts and video-based productions. 41% of our pupils live in the most deprived 0-30% of Lower Super Output Areas in England compared to 24% on average nationally. We want these children to understand the technical aspects and code that make up such media productions, giving them to understanding they need to manipulate technologies confidently in this ever-increasingly digital world they live in. This event will be part of our Computing lessons in school for the Year 5 children so no registration is needed.
