Creative Spark

Beschrijving Our event will introduce girls to coding and computer science using Scratch and Turtlestitch.
The girls will begin with a lesson in Scratch, a child-friendly block-based coding language. They will design their own story on paper, and then build that unique digital story in Scratch. They will learn to set the scene, add sprites with movements, add conversations between sprites, change scenes and costumes, and add sounds and music.
The girls will also get hands-on with textiles by coding a simple pattern using Turtlestitch. They will code a simple pattern in Turtlestitch, and upload this code to our sewing machine to stitch the pattern onto a piece of material. Each girl will take home their own coded stitched pattern.
This event is designed to inspire local girls to embrace technology, and show them how it can be fun, educational and creative!
