Description
We are looking to boost the understanding and participation of young children, especially girls, within the ever important coding arena. 41% of our pupils live in the most deprived 0-30% of Lower Super Output Areas in England compared to 24% on average nationally. We want to deliver a sequence of sessions that will unlock the power of coding to these children by providing them with hands on experiences to build their understanding upon. We want to inspire them to get involved and understand that a career in coding is exciting and can be within their reach. We would like to obtain a number of resources which help to consolidate learning, inspire and grab the attention of young children, especially girls and those from low income, socially deprived backgrounds. I know that these resources would also come in helpful to support our younger learners in our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes.
This event will be part of our Computing lessons in school for the Year 3 children so no registration is needed.
