In our SEMH alternative provision, we are dedicated to supporting girls from disadvantaged backgrounds by offering weekly Esports sessions every Monday in September from 11:00 to 15:00 from week beginning 9th September. These sessions will feature competitive gaming with Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Switch, providing a fun and engaging environment for our students.
With access to two Nintendo Switch consoles and two 55” TVs, our students will be able to participate in exciting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe competitions. This initiative aims to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where our students can develop important skills, boost their confidence and build positive relationships.
Our focus is on girls aged 8-16 who are identified with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH). By incorporating Esports into their routine, we offer an alternative method of engagement that can be more accessible and enjoyable for those who find traditional educational settings challenging.
Through these Esports sessions, we hope to enhance our students' emotional well-being and provide them with a sense of accomplishment and belonging. Our goal is to use gaming as a tool to support their overall educational development and personal growth.
