The event would take place over 4 hourly sessions after school, which would take the children through learning the basics of HTML and some basic CSS. The end goal will be to give them some basic to intermediate understanding of the inner workings of coding, in a way that can hopefully be accessible and allow them to edit/create basic websites on their own. This will be taught through PowerPoints and handouts with information they can take home with them. Through our club, children in KS2 are allowed to apply, and if there were to be too many children applying, we would prioritize children who receive the Pupil Premium Grant (low income funding) and those with SEND needs. Currently, there are 19 children attending with 3 having SEND needs and 7 with PPG funding. Additionally, Lowestoft is not a technological hub in any shape, so my overall goal as a teacher is to get children interested in STEM and computing technology in general, as this is something I have always been passionate about. A further goal is to liaise with local high schools as well and foster larger-scale projects with them.
